“As a former teacher, I was very impressed with LASD's approach to developing the whole child. And rather than focusing on what to learn, they emphasized how to learn. And that mattered a lot.” - Emily Harris, Past Blach Parent

ILLUMINATE LASD

The inaugural edition of the Illuminate LASD was a joyful celebration of curiosity and community. This district-wide initiative gave students a platform for students to become experts, innovators, and change-makers through self-directed inquiry and discovery. The event showcased 300 student projects and welcomed more than 600 participants from all grade levels, alongside 8 community booths offering additional inspiration. Students were deeply engaged with the process of learning rather than just with the product of their learning. There were hands-on experiences for all ages designed to inspire curiosity, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

ART SHOWCASE

In November, the district came together to celebrate its first-ever LASD Student Art Showcase. Featuring the work of 176 students from grades TK-8 across all nine schools, the event highlighted a remarkable range of media and styles - a true celebration of creativity and community. Attendees explored hands-on art stations led by dedicated docents and connected with three Gallery 9 artists, who shared their work and inspiration with the LASD community.

RALLY WEEK

LASD families showed up in force for LASD Education Partners’ Rally Day, held at all nine neighbourhood schools. Decked out in school spirit wear and colors, parents and students rallied together to raise awareness and encourage giving to LAEF and their school's PTA funding the additional resources and opportunities that enrich the student experience. The week was a resounding success, powered by the energy and generosity of the LASD community.
