LAEf Funded programs
During this challenging year which included virtual, hybrid, and in-person learning, LAEF funded teachers and staff creatively adapted their curriculums to provide for the students’ during the ever-changing requirements brought on by the pandemic. For example,

-
STEM teachers developed and distributed kits with supplies for students to work on guided projects at home
-
Art Docents taught lessons virtually and created an extensive new library of projects for students to choose from online
-
PE teachers led “live” online PE classes using equipment available at students’ homes
-
Librarians advised students virtually and coordinated drive-through book check-out and return service
-
Junior high music teachers created virtual orchestras and choirs to build community and share students’ accomplishments
-
and so much more!

LAEF continued to fund mental health counselors, an important resource for our students during this time. We are proud and amazed at the creativity of our teachers and the commitment and care they showed to our students throughout this difficult year.
STEM PROGRAMS
STEM
STEM experiences deepened each child’s
hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and math.

"The STEM projects have been fun, hands-on science learning -- the bird feeder was our child's favorite and is still hanging in our yard."
Computer Science
Each child learned computer science basics and expressed their creativity through code.

"Computer Science has been incredible, both our children have gone on to do extra programming nearly every day."

WELLNESS PROGRAMS
Mental Health
Mental health counselors were available to support students.

"CHAC has been extremely helpful not only to our children but for my husband and me as well. The Counselors are a great asset to the education environment and help meet the needs of the whole child."
Physical Education
Certified PE instructors helped develop each child’s motor skills and understanding of health and fitness.

"PE has been great. I’m so impressed by the ingenuity and positivity of our PE coach. My son loves it. Major props."
LITERACY PROGRAMS

Literacy
Literacy aides assisted classroom teachers to provide 1st and 2nd graders with additional reading support.

"My 2nd grader got some additional support from a literacy aide at the beginning of the year, which was highly beneficial. Got him more engaged with reading and was a really helpful jump start."

"My son took computer science/coding and found it very good. It sparked his interest in coding which he is going to pursue in high school."

"Architecture and Design: a great course, wonderful teacher Ms. Hsuan, I loved that my son was exposed to the field of architecture - really appreciate that opportunity for him."
